A truck explosion in an Illinois suburb has resulted in damage to several homes in the area. The blast occurred just before 9 a.m. local time on May 24 in Addison, a village about 22 miles from Chicago, according to press releases from localfireandpoliceofficials. A video obtained by USA TODAY shows the moment the explosion shook the neighborhood. Police said the incident was determined to be an accident caused by "a propane tank leaking into the truck." The driver of the truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, the releases said. Watch the jaw-dropping moment below. ABC 7andCBS News Chicagoreported that the blast damaged four homes. The Addison Fire District Protection District stated that occupants of one residence were evacuated due to "structural damage and potential for collapse." Police, along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the DuPage County Bomb Squad, probed the incident. In statements sent to the outlets, Penske, a truck rental business, said it is cooperating with officials. The company added that a customer acquired the vehicle to transport personal household items. "Under Penske's rental agreement, explosive, flammable or otherwise hazardous materials should not be transported in a consumer rental moving truck," the statement continued, per the news stations.
