Tina Langley has quietly built the Washington Huskies into one of the most threatening teams in what is expected to be a loaded Big Ten Conference in the 2026-27 season.
Sitting at No. 16 in the preseason AP Top 25 poll, led by a strong core in All-Big Ten First Team honoree Sayvia Sellers, All-Big Ten honorable mention Avery Howell, and All-Big Ten Freshman Team selection Brynn McGaughy, the Huskies have one of the most talented and experienced groups of returners to rely on.
In addition, Langley utilized the transfer portal to bring in promising reinforcements like North Carolina State center Tilda Trygger and Colorado State guard Brooke Carlson to add more depth to her roster as she continues to try to add the right people to her program.
"The plan is to bring the right people into the program because the people make the place," Langley told Dawgman.com's Kim Grinolds at Big Ten Media Days. "We've been able to recruit some of the best student-athletes and staff in the country. Our coaching staff is elite."
"I think what you see happen is each year the people who return, who have more eligibility, are doing a great job of just telling the truth. We know college students tell the truth and they tell the recruits what their experience is like, and I think it's just really honestly a great place to be."
With the 2026-27 season around the corner, Langley is hoping her strong core and revamped roster can lead the Huskies to host a regional round in the NCAA Tournament. Looking to the future, she's also secured a commitment from five-star guard Jessie Moses and is also hoping to add a pledge from the nation's No. 1 overall prospect, five-star guard Kaleena Smith, after hosting her on an official visit over the summer.
