Netflix Get ready, because nothing can prepare you for the secondhand awkwardness on season 11 of Love Is Blind. Naturally, we’re talking about Jax and Stew—more specifically, the fact that Jax ghosted Stew after they met in person and he popped the question.
So…what went wrong? Apparently, Jax was concerned when Stew revealed he’d never been in love. “I was like, ‘ This is his red flag,’” she told Tudum . “I love very deeply, and I’ve been in love many times...so for someone to not have that feeling is alarming.” She added, “I didn’t think it was a complete deal-breaker, but that’s when I started to question things a little bit.”
Then the proposal happened, and Jax was unimpressed. “It was weird,” she explained. “I would’ve hoped that he was up all night writing, but it felt like he was just winging it.” She felt like he was reading off a “superficial checklist” and that “It wasn’t about me at all. I was bummed, and I couldn’t comprehend it at the time, because you want to be happy.”
And when they finally met each other, Jax said, “He just seemed really cocky in a way, and I was like, ‘OK, this is not what I was expecting.’ He was like, ‘So what do you think about me?’ It felt douchey. The walls did not come down for me. I was like, ‘This is not romantic at all.’”
Jax explained that she “went completely [into] flight mode, and I was like, ‘I gotta get out of here. This is not right.’” What I felt was real at that time. The good and unfortunately the bad was real too, and it had nothing to do with him or his looks. It was the moment, and it was way too much for me.”
She also added that ultimately “I wish I had handled it better. He deserved a conversation, and it deserved to end differently, because he’s a gentleman and I should have handled it like a lady, but I didn’t.”
